 LIST OF ISSUES

POLICE BRUTALITY AND GREATER ACCOUNTABILITY

Demand justice for the senseless killing of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Sean Reed, Tony McDade, Eric Garner and all other Black victims who have tragically died at the hands of the police.  To ultimately have legislative policies that focus on the humanity of Black Americans, and to eradicate a long history of policies and practices that have marginalized Black Americans.

As the president of the 47th Precinct  Community Council, we strive to open lines of communication with the public and the Precinct.  Discussions that include Bail Reform, Police Reform, Criminal justice, and quality of life issues.  The 47th Precinct is open to having conversations and is not afraid of answering even the most difficult questions..

EDUCATION

Public schools play a part in the oppression of minority students in NYC schools there are schools in poverty zones that experience educational inequities.  Higher amounts of students in special education, overcrowded buildings, higher class sizes, and poor conditions.  Many of these schools don’t have staffed librarians.  There are fewer resources for each student and many students don’t get the remedial help that the need.   Students are in single-parent homes who oftentimes raising themselves.  Poverty also plays a big role in the support of student education.  We must get the CFE from Albany and use it to level the playing field for the bottom 1/3 of students in the city.  Democrats are in the majority in both houses there is no excuse for any delay of these funds.

As the President of CEC, we were able to get an unprecedented six schools built from the ground up in eight years.  We were able to millions from the City Council for district Reso A projects. During my tenure at the CEC we continued to be the number one in the Bronx beating out Pelham and Riverdale schools. Urban Neighborhood a non-profit organization that I founded has been doing scholarship workshops throughout NYC getting scholarships for many of our students in the community.

HEALTHCARE

Stabilizing the Individual Health Care Market established by the Affordable Care Act is experiencing increasing premiums and declining enrollment. Some states are attempting to stabilize the market by establishing reinsurance programs, mandating coverage, or providing subsidies, while others are working on alternative health insurance plans.

HOUSING

Build more low-income housing, not affordable housing.  Keeping real estate money out of politics The real estate industry has controlled New York elected officials by contributing enormous donations to candidates in Albany siding with the interests of wealthy corporate landowners over tenants. This causes homelessness to increase and mass dislocation from low-income neighborhoods. I am the candidate you can trust to say no and stand up to the real estate industry which eventually will stop evictions.

BUSINESS

I am a candidate who refuses to take corrupt industry money.  I advocate for small businesses and understand the community effort needed to keep our small businesses and family-owned business not just running, but thriving. I have utilized the services and products of local businesses in my past community events and will continue to help generate money and patronage to the local businesses in the north Bronx.

COVID -19 RELIEF

I have been in contact with the Mayor's office to increase the number of COVID testing sites in our district. To serve our community faster during this epidemic, my community center provides free take-home COVID tests, free masks, and pre-packaged food for families in need. The Eastchester Heights Community Center remains open and socially distanced for children of first responders to attend school remotely. I am actively supplying and educating the community to remain safe and healthy during this time of global crisis.
